Wolfram Carbide began as an idea for a new business in January of 2014. I’ve been a woodturner for a few years and both my wife and myself enjoy using the carbide turning tools for their ease of use and replaceable cutters, so I went on the search to find some high quality carbide inserts that would still last long, but not cost as much as the “Genuine” cutters from tool manufacturer. I was able to talk one of my day job customers into doing some testing for me, so I ordered samples from 6 different manufacturers with very specific specifications in what I was looking for. After all the tests were done, one manufacturer stood out as providing a top quality product, and while their price wasn’t the cheapest, they were the best. So, in January 2015, I started Wolfram Carbide and entered into an exclusive distribution contract with them to manufacturer carbide cutting inserts to my specifications.
